How Make 10 Works

The board is a 7×7 grid of numbers from 1 to 9. Drag across adjacent tiles — up, down, left, or right — to build a path whose values sum to exactly 10. Release and the tiles clear. New numbers fall in from the top to fill the gaps.

You have two minutes. Every tile you clear scores 10 points, so a five-tile path that sums to 10 is worth 50 points while a two-tile path is worth 20. Longer chains are rarer but the payoff is proportionally higher, which makes scanning for them worth the half-second it takes.

Backtracking. Drag back over your last tile to deselect it and try a different direction. You can unwind as many steps as you like without releasing — useful when a path that looked promising turns out to be a dead end.

What to look for. Pairs of complementary values (1+9, 2+8, 3+7, 4+6, 5+5) are the fastest clears. Runs of small numbers — four 1s and a 6, three 2s and a 4 — take longer to trace but open up more of the board at once. Keeping an eye on clusters of low numbers is usually more productive than hunting for exact pairs.
